About the role

Mechanical Engineer role focused on designing, developing, and deploying automated electromechanical systems for mosquito-borne disease reduction, within a small cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build automated systems with electromechanical components (servos, pneumatics, sensors, drive components, etc.).
  • Oversee the full product lifecycle from requirements definition and prototype validation to production-ready systems.
  • Act as primary technical point-of-contact to science, software, and operations teams to resolve foundational engineering issues.
  • Design and iterate with real-world users and use cases; test prototypes and released products to verify design specifications; investigate and resolve production issues.
  • Determine product performance through engineering calculations and layouts; use CAD, FMEA, and DFA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience designing and testing electro-mechanical, pneumatic and fluid systems.
  • Experience using prototyping tools and techniques.
  • Experience designing industrial or lab automated systems.
  • Experience with modeling CAD software such as SolidWorks.
