About the role

Software engineer role focused on memory safety, security, and system-level programming with opportunities to impact Google's core infrastructure and products. Design, implement, and deploy memory-safety techniques across large-scale systems; collaborate with Memory Safety program teams; advance research in program analysis and machine learning for security.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement new techniques and make them work for extremely large scale software systems across many product teams. Help deploy exploit mitigations, retrofit spatial safety to C++ and transition Google to memory safe programming languages such as Rust.
  • Build strong partnerships and collaborate with partner teams in Google's Memory Safety program, as well as with industry and academia.
  • Fix memory safety across all Google products. From initial security research and tactical exploit mitigations to engineering away classes of problems and addressing their root cause.
  • Research and apply innovative techniques for memory safety, from program analysis to machine learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management).
