About the role

Software engineer role within Google's Cloud Spanner Platform, focusing on a globally distributed relational database service with scale, reliability, and strong consistency. Responsibilities

  • Make the impact to our biggest Cloud customers with ambiguous challenges to solve at scale.
  • Design and develop features to support future scale, increase resiliency and isolation.
  • Identify future bottlenecks through monitoring, experimenting and other signals and propose solutions.
  • Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and other partner teams to drive holistic solutions, often spanning multiple quarters and requiring cross-team influence and excellent communication skills.
  • Lead architectural changes in a massively distributed system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience with: Distributed Systems, Backend.
