About the role

Google accountants handle core accounting responsibilities, advise on government-required financial reports, review and interpret financial and budgetary reports, and drive improvements. This role leads end-to-end accounting for investments within Google Cloud, partnering with business stakeholders to understand agreement structures and align on accounting and finance implications.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Cloud business and commercial teams to evaluate non-standard agreement structures, proactively influence contract negotiations, and optimize financial terms.
  • Lead the end-to-end technical accounting evaluation and documentation for strategic Cloud investments in compliance with US GAAP (ASC 321, ASC 323, and ASC 810).
  • Collaborate with Cloud Technical Accounting, Controllership, and broader finance leadership to analyze complex terms, mitigate risks, and optimize financial statement outcomes.
  • Identify and drive operational efficiencies by leveraging technology, including supporting the development and deployment of guided contract review and accounting automation tools.
  • Establish and scale accounting policies, governance frameworks, and repeatable processes to support new business models and strategic growth initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • CPA or CA.
  • 10 years of experience in accounting or related function, or 8 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
  • Experience in US GAAP accounting principles with experience in investment accounting (ASC 321 and ASC 323) and experience with consolidation accounting (ASC 810) in a public accounting or multinational company setting.
