About the role

Head of Retention at Polymarket leading the design, build, and operation of the retention function for active traders, including lifecycle, CRM operations, analytics, and incentives. Owns retention KPIs, budget, and alignment across Markets, Growth, Product, and Brand.

Responsibilities

  • Build the retention organization from an early-stage team into a full function, including lifecycle, CRM operations, analytics, and incentives, and decide what to build in-house vs. partner.
  • Own active-trader retention at 30, 90, and 180 days and LTV growth as company-level KPIs, reporting cohort performance, churn signals, and incentive ROI to CEO and exec team.
  • Set and defend the retention incentive budget with Finance, using incrementality data to decide spend.
  • Align cross-functionally to ensure acquisition and retention move together around major event moments (elections, playoffs, crypto events).
  • Negotiate roadmap commitments from Engineering and Data for triggers, tooling, and data infrastructure (e.g., Braze, Customer.io, Amplitude).
  • Own messaging rules across the company (frequency caps, channel priority) to protect trader experience.
  • Work with Legal and Compliance to set retention guardrails in line with regulatory requirements (CFTC rules, state eligibility, contact permissions).

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in retention, lifecycle, or CRM
  • 5+ years leading teams and managing managers
  • Experience building/scaling retention in high-churn consumer business (sports betting, fintech, streaming, or similar)
  • Experience owning an incentive/retention budget with full ROI accountability
  • Strong analytical judgment and ability to explain incrementality results to non-specialists
  • Experience presenting to and influencing a C-suite on retention strategy
  • Experience in a regulated industry with knowledge of compliance on user communications and promotions
  • Genuine interest in markets, sports, politics, or crypto
  • Plus: background in sports betting or prediction markets
  • Plus: experience operating in a CFTC-regulated environment
