About the role

Firmware-focused Software Development Manager leading a team of firmware engineers to deliver embedded solutions for AWS data center hardware, aligning roadmaps with AWS goals and coordinating with hardware and software teams, while supporting deployment and operation in AWS data centers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a talented group of firmware engineers and foster professional growth and a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Define and present the annual roadmap for high-quality firmware solutions to organizational leadership, ensuring alignment with AWS strategic goals.
  • Collaborate closely with AWS hardware and software teams to integrate firmware into the broader AWS Data Center services ecosystem.
  • Support the deployment and operation of the developed firmware in AWS data centers, ensuring smooth implementation and optimal performance.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
  • Experience managing a team of high calibre Software Engineers developing complex, world class, scalable software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
  • Preferred: 5+ years of embedded firmware development experience
  • Preferred: Knowledge of server hardware and components
  • Preferred: 5+ years of experience with BMC development
  • Preferred: Experience with systems management protocols or standards such as I2C, MCTP, PLDM, Redfish, USB, SPDM, PCIe
  • Preferred: Experience with accelerated server design with GPUs
  • Preferred: Experience operating complex systems at Cloud scale
