About the role

Conversational AI product design technologist role within Amazon Prime Video, focusing on prototyping, shaping AI interaction behaviors, and advancing conversational experiences across voice, text, visual, and ambient surfaces. Collaborates with design leadership, researchers, PMs, and engineers to move concepts from idea to implementation and explores generative AI in content discovery and viewing experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Build high-quality, functional prototypes that convey and advance the vision of future conversational experiences.
  • Translate human conversational needs into AI interaction behaviors, balancing a natural and trustworthy voice.
  • Shape model behavior by writing and refining system instructions and prompts, building goldens and platinums, and partnering on reinforcement learning and evaluations.
  • Design and build for repair and recovery, handling ambiguity, misunderstanding, hallucination, and graceful failure.
  • Define conversational quality metrics and apply them to measurably improve the experience, including building LLM-as-a-judge evaluations.
  • Prototype across voice, text, visual, and ambient (multimodal) surfaces, using the best and most appropriate tools for the task.
  • Collaborate with design leadership and stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle, and work alongside designers, researchers, PMs, and engineers to drive concepts from idea to implementation.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, iterative environment with ambiguous challenges and brand new customer experiences.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of front-end technologist, engineer, or UX prototyper experience
  • An available online portfolio, with coding or prototyping samples that demonstrate conversational AI work.
  • Hands-on experience prototyping with and designing for LLM-powered products.
  • Experience shaping AI systems, including writing system instructions and prompts and building or running evaluations.
  • Experience building functional prototypes, for example with front-end technologies, AI prototyping tools, or AWS tools such as Bedrock.
