About the role

Entry-level material buyer role within Amazon’s OpsTech Solutions – Supply Chain team in Japan. Responsible for managing IT hardware and services procurement, coordinating cross-region suppliers, and implementing material management processes to support global and local operations.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and/or manage procurement requests (PR) and purchase orders (PO) for IT-related needs within the region
  • Communicate with suppliers on status and delivery in Japanese and English
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with suppliers for internal/external material issues
  • Maintain deep understanding of BOM concepts, processes, and governance
  • Understand key demand inputs, trends, and their downstream impact on materials/supply
  • Support all devices from NPI to EOL, establishing material strategies that meet warranty requirements post-manufacture
  • Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to implement strategic solutions to continuously improve material management processes
  • Work closely with global and regional suppliers to prevent shortages as needed
  • Be proficient in or familiar with procurement software (e.g., Coupa)
  • Interest in AI is a plus

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of program or project management experience
  • 1+ years of supply chain experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Business-level Japanese (N1+)
  • English fluency (C1 or above)
