About the role

Join Amazon’s mission to become Earth’s safest place to work. As a Workplace Health & Safety Specialist (WHSS), you will drive safety programs, lead audits and investigations, and advocate for associate wellbeing to transform workplace safety culture across Amazon facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Drive comprehensive safety programs through data-driven strategies and lead daily safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments
  • Implement innovative safety solutions to prevent injuries and deliver engaging safety training
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workplace safety while maintaining operational efficiency
  • Serve as a trusted safety advisor and advocate for associate wellbeing, building partnerships across all levels of the organization
  • Transform safety data into compelling narratives to influence positive change and drive engagement in safety initiatives
  • Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach; stand/walk for up to 12 hours; maintain safety during variable noise and temperatures; climb stairs (where applicable)
  • Be available to work flexible shifts including days, nights, and/or weekends
  • Obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 3 weeks if not already certified

Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent
  • A minimum of 1 year in an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) related field OR a Bachelor’s degree in EHS-relevant background OR 6 months experience in a safety-related role within Amazon
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations specifically 29 CFR 1910
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacity
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues in the workplace
