About the role

Role in Amazon's transportation operations focusing on trailer yard activities, yard coordination, DOT/CDL-related training, and operating various CMVs to support the transportation network.

Responsibilities

  • Make safety a priority by adhering to company rules and regulations and enforcing safety measures for all yard and vehicle operations.
  • Perform yard functions to support site operations, internal transportation teams, and external carriers to ensure timely trailer arrivals/departures with zero defects.
  • Operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non-public roads or in yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locations.
  • Learn and comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies related to DOT requirements.
  • Complete driver vehicle inspection reports and notify managers of maintenance or delivery issues.
  • Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track and report working hours and breaks in compliance with Amazon policy and regulations; adhere to safety and traffic laws.
  • Provide peer training or operate at nearby site locations as needed.
  • Drive, maneuver, and load/unload trucks using approved equipment (e.g., pallet jack).
  • Opportunities for external site exposure, CDL sponsorship potential, and long-term growth through transportation training.

Qualifications

  • Hold a valid and active driver’s license
  • High School or equivalent diploma
  • Age 21 or older
  • Work 40 hours/week with overtime as required
  • Flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk up to 12 hours, and perform physical tasks (push/pull/squat/bend/reach)
  • English proficiency to understand and adhere to job requirements and safety guidelines
