About the role

Role in Amazon's transportation operations involving trailer yard activities, yard coordination, driver training participation, and operation of multiple CMVs to support the transportation network.

Responsibilities

  • Make safety a priority by adhering to company rules and regulations and enforcing safety measures for all yard operations and vehicle operators.
  • Perform yard functions and support site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers to ensure trailers arrive/depart on time with zero defects and maintain workflow for buildings.
  • Operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non-public roads or in yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locations.
  • Learn and comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies related to size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, violation and incident reporting, breaks, etc.
  • Complete driver vehicle inspection reports on equipment and notify managers of maintenance or delivery issues.
  • Follow hostler/delivery schedules, track and report working hours and breaks per Amazon policy and regulations; adhere to yard safety policies and traffic laws; drive according to weather/road conditions.
  • Support the business as needed by serving as a peer trainer or working at nearby site locations within the area.
  • Drive, maneuver, and load/unload a truck using approved equipment (e.g., pallet jack).
  • Opportunity for CDL involvement and related training paid by Amazon; potential to earn CDL depending on business needs.

Qualifications

  • Hold a valid and active driver’s license
  • High School or equivalent diploma
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Ability to lift up to 49 pounds, stand and walk for shifts up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, reach, and ascend/descend stairs
  • Work 40 hours/week with overtime as required
  • Flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
  • English proficiency to understand and adhere to job requirements and safety guidelines
