About the role

AWS is introducing the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) and seeks experienced systems engineers with automation and operations background to build and lead operations and development teams delivering high-availability AWS services for EU customers. The role includes coordinating with global AWS teams, driving operational improvements, and participating in 24x7 on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) in 2025.
  • Collaborate with global AWS teams to evolve services and technology.
  • Review operational health of services, identify anomalies, and create actionable bug reports to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Provide feedback on change management documents and address operational backlog.
  • Develop and test scripts to improve workflows.
  • Educate service teams about the European Sovereign Cloud.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations to resolve incidents out-of-hours.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting or networking administration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language.
  • This role requires you to be a national of an EU member state and reside in the EU to operate the ESC.
  • Experience in Systems engineering, site reliability engineering, building and operating systems at scale.
  • Ability to lead creation, revision, and improvement of SOPs and drive operational best practices.
