About the role
The Generator Service Technician supports data center operations for AWS by identifying, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical generator systems and related engine mechanical failures. Serves as the technical expert and primary customer contact to ensure up-time and exceptional customer experience, with extensive travel and field service responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Know and follow all Company safety rules, maintain a safe and clean work area, participate in safety activities
- Respond to customer requests
- Travel to designated sites and perform professional field service repairs
- Advise Generator Service Manager on parts needed for repairs
- Keep Generator Service Manager informed and collaborate with leadership to resolve customer questions
- Document detailed descriptions of repair operations
- Accurately record time, expenses, and mileage
- Travel 80-90% of the time in an assigned region; work overtime, weekends, or holidays as needed
- Lift up to 40 lbs; PPE use (glasses, gloves, footwear) as required
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and vendor management
- Procedure creation, preventative maintenance, break fix, and administrative duties in day-to-day activities
- Collaborate with generator team to complete large tasks and maintain high standards of communication and volunteerism
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years working directly with generator systems
- 2+ years troubleshooting and repairing power generation equipment using standard safety procedures
