About the role

Lead and grow a central hardware support function within Amazon Robotics Technical Services, owning hardware outcomes across the fleet, defining multi-year strategy, and building the central Hardware Support Engineering capability. Manage multiple teams (Custom Tools, Retrofits, Problem Management) plus individual contributors and partner across hardware teams to keep the robotics fleet serviceable at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a multi-team hardware organization spanning Custom Tools, Retrofits, and Problem Management, plus individual contributors, with scope expected to expand as the function matures.
  • Set the multi-year technical and organizational strategy for central hardware support across Amazon Robotics, defining the mechanisms, standards, and roadmap that keep the world's largest robotics fleet serviceable at scale.
  • Act as the central hardware authority partnering across product engineering, deployment, RME, field hardware support, safety, and supply chain teams — aligning priorities and resolving contentious technical trade-offs beyond any single team.
  • Build and develop leaders: hire, coach, and grow managers and senior ICs, and raise the engineering and operational-excellence bar across the organization.
  • Own headcount planning, team structure, and delivery accountability as the organization scales, surfacing risks early and driving them to resolution.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of manufacturing, process, industrial engineering experience
  • 10+ years of engineering team management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience developing and testing mechanical robotics equipment
  • Experience with DFx (cost, test, manufacturing)
  • Experience in reliability/maintenance environments
