About the role

The ATS Sorting Center Shift Manager leads day-to-day operations and staff on a designated shift within a single Amazon Sorting Center, focusing on sortation processes, safety, and workforce management to ensure efficient, safe execution of sorting activities. Collaborates with site leadership and cross-functional teams to optimize workflows and drive continuous improvement and employee engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the execution of all sortation activities during the assigned shift, including inbound receiving, sorting, and outbound loading, per the center's strategy
  • Manage the shift's workforce (supervisors, equipment operators, support personnel) including staffing, task assignments, and performance monitoring
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and PPE usage, equipment operation, and procedures
  • Monitor and analyze KPIs (throughput, quality, safety) to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborate with Site Manager, Capacity Planner, and other teams to address operational challenges and resource constraints
  • Lead the implementation of new technologies, automation, and best practices within the shift
  • Provide coaching, training, and development to shift personnel; promote continuous learning and safety culture
  • Escalate critical issues to Site Manager with proposed solutions and mitigations
  • Maintain accurate shift performance documentation (labor deployment, productivity, incident reports)
  • Serve as subject matter expert and representative of shift operations; work with other shift managers and leadership to drive improvements
  • Stay informed of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in sortation operations and workforce management to enhance performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Experience in people management
  • Flexibility to work weekends, nights, and holidays
