About the role

Software Development Engineer sought to design and build scalable lending systems for Amazon Pay’s 1P Credito in Brazil, focusing on underwriting, servicing, repayments, regulatory reporting, and customer-facing experiences in a greenfield fintech environment for LATAM.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build core services for the 1P Lending platform in Brazil—spanning underwriting, servicing, repayments, accounting, and compliance.
  • Write high-quality, production-ready code for backend and frontend services, with a focus on reliability, testability, and operational excellence.
  • Own system architecture decisions for your area—API design, data modeling, event-driven flows, and integration patterns with internal and external partners.
  • Build for compliance—implement systems that meet Brazilian financial regulations (Central Bank reporting, PIX, Open Finance) with auditability and data integrity baked in.
  • Operate what you build—own monitoring, alarming, on-call, and incident response for your services; drive high availability and low-latency targets.
  • Solve ambiguous problems—break down complex business and regulatory requirements into clean, extensible technical solutions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally—work with product, finance, tax, risk, legal, and partner integration teams.
  • Contribute to platform reuse—build shared libraries, frameworks, and architectural patterns for scaling across LATAM markets.
  • Raise the bar—participate in code reviews, design reviews, and hiring; mentor junior engineers and contribute to team culture.
  • Own a critical product pillar of the 1P Lending platform (define product vision, technical strategy, execution roadmap).
  • Work with a team of 7-8 SDEs; drive local execution while aligning with LATAM/global teams.
  • Design and build scalable, resilient distributed systems for real-time underwriting, loan servicing, repayments, accounting, and compliance.
  • Drive architectural decisions on API design, data modeling, and system integration with internal/external partners.
  • Navigate regulatory complexity—partner with legal, finance, tax, and risk to meet Brazilian regulations (Central Bank, PIX, Open Finance).
  • Establish operational excellence—own system availability, latency, monitoring, on-call processes, and incident management.
  • Influence broader platform by contributing reusable components and cross-market architectural patterns.
