About the role

WW RR&S seeks a System Development Engineer to troubleshoot, diagnose, and fix production software issues; develop monitoring solutions; perform software maintenance and configuration; implement fixes for internal code; run SQL queries; and build tools to automate daily operational activities within the Amazon Worldwide Returns, ReCommerce & Sustainability team.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing and fixing production software issues
  • Developing monitoring solutions
  • Performing software maintenance and configuration
  • Implementing fixes for internally developed code (Perl, Ruby, C/C++, JAVA)
  • Performing SQL queries
  • Updating, tracking and resolving technical challenges
  • Building and developing tools to automate daily operational activities
  • Working alongside development on Amazon Corporate and Divisional Software projects
  • Updating/enhancing current software
  • Automation of support processes and documentation of systems
  • Coordinate across Development, Operations and IT Support groups during high-impact issues
  • Prioritize projects and contribute to customer experience improvements

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
