About the role

Senior Engineer to lead installation, commissioning, and startup of material handling and automation equipment for new and retrofit sites in Japan, coordinating with global engineering, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to maximize safety, quality, and cost efficiency while enabling rapid site launches and operational readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation of material handling and various automated equipment, commissioning tests and acceptance inspection processes for both new site launches and legacy site retrofit/expansion.
  • Resolve conflicts and optimize safety, schedule, quality, and cost by building trust with internal stakeholders and external vendors; lead projects to timely, high-quality, low-cost outcomes.
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams to introduce new safety and quality management processes or standards to Japan, and promote Japanese best practices globally.
  • Dive deep into technical details to identify root causes of issues and develop mechanisms and standards to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide equipment specifications and technical support to procurement and other business partners for best value and competitiveness.
  • - Manage site safety and quality issues during construction, ensuring alignment with safety standards and engineering guidelines.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to improve processes and standards, and document improvements for global deployment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in Engineering (or science/technology)
  • 5+ years of technical leadership and project management experience in large-scale engineering projects (construction or equivalent equipment knowledge in MHE/automation/production)
  • Experience coordinating internal cross-functional teams and external partners
  • MS Office and CAD proficiency
  • Business-level Japanese and English (spoken and written)
