About the role

AWS Managed Operations role to help launch and operate the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) for EU customers, delivering high-availability AWS services and leading operations and development activities with a focus on availability, reliability, latency, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) in 2025
  • Collaborate with global AWS teams to influence evolution of AWS services and technology
  • Operate and improve one of the largest software systems in the team’s care
  • Review operational health, diagnose anomalies, and write actionable bug reports
  • Follow change management processes for production changes
  • Help resolve backlog of operational issues
  • Develop scripts/tools to speed up root-cause analysis and incident response
  • Participate in on-call rotations as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science (or related IT discipline) or equivalent industry experience
  • Knowledge or experience in scripting (Bash, Python, or Ruby) or software development (Java, TypeScript, or similar) with Linux and networking fundamentals
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • EU nationality and resident in the EU; relocation support within EU (if applicable)
  • Experience operating 24x7 high-availability, distributed software applications; performance tuning and monitoring (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or similar)
  • Ability to execute standard operating procedures and follow operational best practices
