About the role

Software Development Manager role in AWS Builder Acceleration Service Care Center (SCC) to lead a new Vancouver-based team focused on simplifying and accelerating the AWS software development experience using GenAI and advanced AWS technologies. Responsible for building a portfolio-scale automation, reducing infrastructure spend, and enabling 20,000+ AWS engineers to be more productive. Leadership of engineers across multiple levels and close collaboration with ASBX to improve AWS builder experience.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a new organization dedicated to improving AWS developer experience
  • Identify and prioritize high-impact problems that impede AWS software development
  • Develop a strategic roadmap that delivers meaningful improvements weekly while working toward long-term transformation
  • Establish team culture and set new standards for the ideal software builder experience
  • Partner closely with ASBX while focusing on AWS specific challenges
  • Make and defend decisions about scope and priorities, even when facing pressure from senior stakeholders

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
