About the role

System Development Engineer to build high-performance, globally scalable delivery systems; focus on migrating and operating at scale, automation, and AI-assisted workflows to optimize migration operations for Amazon DSP Analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain, and deploy components in a complex ecosystem using languages such as Python and Java
  • Lead migration projects from planning through execution including infrastructure setup, data replication, traffic management, and post-migration validation
  • Identify and implement cost optimization strategies to reduce per-offering costs through automation and streamlined operations
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and foster operational excellence
  • Lead root cause analysis for high-severity incidents and drive preventive improvements
  • Collaborate with service teams across Amazon to identify and resolve migration blockers
  • Participate in on-call rotations to support critical migration activities
  • Build AI-assisted workflows to streamline migration operations and automate tasks
  • Perform deep dives on services with different compute types to optimize resources
  • Lead technical direction for complex migration challenges using AWS technologies and modern development practices
  • Collaborate on pipeline infrastructure setups and develop tools in Python and Java for automation
  • Communicate ideas effectively, participate in design reviews, and mentor team members
  • Impact broader organizational technical decisions and contribute to broader team architecture
  • Support memory efficiency analysis across service fleets
  • Engage with Seattle-based leadership on strategic priorities

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of designing or architecting systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling)
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science
  • Experience automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
  • Experience programming in modern languages (Python, Java, or alternatives like Ruby, Golang, C++, C#, Rust)
  • Experience with Linux/Unix
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience in performance tuning or optimization of compute resources
