Industrial Design Engineer Intern role at Amazon focusing on conceiving and designing innovative consumer products and fulfillment systems. Internship involves hands-on design, testing, and collaboration across cross-disciplinary teams with real responsibility from day one.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test and deliver solutions (e.g., workflow/process path layout, space utilization/efficiency, ergonomics, etc.).
  • Use technologies such as AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, SolidWorks, CREO, SketchUp, KeyShot, BIM360 to produce high-quality models and designs that meet customer needs (safety, quality, performance).
  • Identify and communicate issues related to design, development, implementation, and optimization of fulfillment-center technologies or design solutions.
  • Invent, develop, and refine solutions to meet customer, business, operational, technology, and team goals.
  • Understand business impact of designs and exercise good judgement to meet performance and scaling targets.
  • Technical report writing of process and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Work 40 hours/week minimum and commit to 12 week internship maximum
  • Are enrolled in or have completed an academic program located in the United States
  • Knowledge of IE fundamentals like basic spatial layouts of processing lines or process paths
  • Experience using CAD technologies (AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, SolidWorks, CREO, BIM360, SketchUp or KeyShot)
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, operations, engineering, analytics or related field with expected conferral date between Oct 2026 – Dec 2029
  • Knowledge of converting sub-system functional requirements into engineering requirements and component designs
