About the role

Senior Pre-Construction Manager for EMEA Data Center projects, acting as primary liaison between Real Estate, Design Engineering, Construction and other partner teams during early planning, conceptual design and design development. Responsible for cost, schedule, constructibility guidance, and development of design standards across regional programs.

Responsibilities

  • Review and input into global standards and data center template designs.
  • Independently support, overview and manage complex, cross-functional Data Center projects from site selection, permitting and contract execution, keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Maintain scope progress by driving timely decisions, clearing blockers, and escalating as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal/external teams (real estate, design engineering, construction, finance, architects, engineers, permitting agencies, developers and landlords) to secure resources, define scope, set priorities and drive results.
  • Conduct negotiations with general contractors, evaluate bids/proposals, participate in pricing reviews for scope inclusions/exclusions, negotiate costs with developers, general contractors and design consultants.
  • Evaluate due diligences, track schedules, identify and resolve factors that impede project hand-over to Amazon stakeholders.
  • Uphold high standards, drive accountability, and manage both external and internal teams, including coaching or disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Represent AWS daily to ensure on-time and on-budget project execution, mentor large cross-functional teams, and lead negotiations with contractors and procurement partners.
  • Lead design/contract management, risk analysis, stakeholder and vendor management; act as primary escalation point for feasibility of future projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Fluent in French and English (technical instruction and concepts)
  • Experience in executive-level communication (verbal and written)
  • 7+ years negotiating with general contractors and evaluating bids/proposals
  • 7+ years in mission critical facilities (design, pre-construction, scheduling, construction and commissioning) or equivalent
  • 5+ years construction site management
  • Knowledge of industry safety, quality standards and local safety regulations (client role)
