About the role

AWS Infrastructure Services designs, plans, delivers, and operates AWS global infrastructure. The Internet Edge Services (IES) team builds and operates software systems that optimize AWS's global Internet traffic, providing visibility, control, and performance at scale. The role focuses on building, enhancing, and operating Amazon's internet outbound traffic controller to ensure robust performance during high-traffic events.

Responsibilities

  • Work backwards from the customer to translate complex functional and technical requirements into software designs.
  • Influence leadership on feature and enhancement prioritization.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality improvements and features on time.
  • Stay current on technical knowledge and bring new technologies on board.
  • Collaborate with other Software Engineers and Network Development Engineers to demonstrate and iterate on solutions.
  • Monitor system health, diagnose customer issues, and provide insights to improve robustness.
  • Contribute code across the system (alarms, optimization algorithms, features).
  • Share knowledge with the IES organization.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
