About the role

AWS seeks experienced systems engineers with a strong automation and operations background to help build, operate, and evolve the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) for EU customers. The role is part of the AWS Managed Operations team, focusing on high-availability services (EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, Bedrock) and on-call incident resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee ongoing operations and expansion of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC).
  • Collaborate with global AWS teams to influence evolution of AWS services and technology.
  • Review operational health of services, identify anomalies, and draft actionable bug reports to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Provide feedback on change management documents and address operational backlog.
  • Develop and test scripts to enhance workflows.
  • Educate service teams about the European Sovereign Cloud and share knowledge.
  • Engage in 24x7 on-call rotations to resolve incidents and ensure system resiliency.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis with team to maintain operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting, or networking administration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language.
  • Experience in Systems engineering, site reliability engineering, building and operating systems at scale.
  • This role requires you to be a national of an EU member state.
  • Ability to lead creation, revision, and improvement of standard operational procedures (SOPs) and drive operational best practices.
