About the role

Senior security engineer focused on Leo Satellite Security, responsible for vulnerability management, risk assessment, and security program delivery for Amazon’s Leo Low Earth Orbit satellite initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Own the vulnerability management program for Leo systems across a large and heterogeneous fleet, including discovery, prioritization, remediation, and ensuring coverage and risk-based prioritization.
  • Drive resolution of high-severity and systemic vulnerabilities by coordinating across teams and reduce long-term technical debt and risk.
  • Simplify security for builders to ensure security is a default, gather feedback, and reduce friction in security mechanisms.
  • Partner with builder teams to understand risk, define security priorities, and secure systems without slowing delivery; mentor engineers to grow security talent.
  • Translate compliance and regulatory requirements into auditable engineering controls and evidence; define and report metrics (coverage, time-to-remediate, SLA adherence, residual risk).
  • Spend time analyzing data and metrics to identify architectural defects, gaps in coverage, and opportunities to improve security controls; drive targeted campaigns to close gaps.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of non-internship background in troubleshooting systems issues, analyzing logs, or automating complex tasks using command line tools experience
  • 5+ years of work in identifying security issues and risks, and developing mitigation plans experience
  • Experience (non-internship) in scripting, programming, and security code reviewing in a common programming language
  • Experience (non-internship) in industry-based security vulnerabilities identification, attack patterns, and remediation techniques
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
