About the role

Permanent in-house tax role supporting the CPA during tax season and beyond, focused on preparing and/or assisting with US business tax returns under CPA supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the CPA to provide expert guidance and service to clients from around the world
  • Collaborate with team members to timely and accurately file tax returns as needed throughout the busy season
  • Assist in communicating with clients to answer questions around tax season
  • Assist in managing client inquiries throughout the year, including calls via webcam or phone
  • Perform tax calculations, input data, and research information needed to resolve filing questions
  • Apply appropriate practices to input client data into federal and state tax returns for CPA review

Qualifications

  • Active PTIN required or ability to obtain prior to tax season
  • Experience preparing and reviewing Federal and State income tax returns for businesses, preparing quarterly estimates, handling tax notices and disputes
  • Familiar with form 1120/5472 for non-US residents and form 1065 for partnerships
  • Comfortable with a startup environment and ambiguity
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and English communication skills
  • Preferred: Active CPA or EA (or planning to obtain)
  • Preferred: Experience researching United States tax information
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Intuit tax products
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Wave, QuickBooks, or other SMB accounting software
