About the role

Forward-deployed Engineer role at Automat, interfacing directly with customers to tailor automation solutions (RPA and IDP) using Automat’s internal libraries and tools. Cross-functional with product, engineering, and customer teams; includes customer-facing duties and potential upsell conversations.

Responsibilities

  • Build upon autonomous agent solutions to tailor RPA and IDP solutions to customer workflows
  • Leverage UI automation to help AI agents navigate enterprise software to achieve automation goals
  • Align automation strategies with customer needs while driving long-term product innovation and resilience
  • Prototype new techniques and optimize pipelines for intelligent document understanding
  • Serve as a bridge between product, engineering, and customer teams
  • Engage in customer conversations to identify upsell opportunities and expand Automat’s product offerings

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience
  • Demonstrated success in a customer-facing technical role (e.g., sales engineering, solutions engineering, forward deploy engineering)
  • Robust web automation background (Selenium, Playwright)
  • Experience using AI tools effectively (e.g., Cursor, Windsurf, lovable)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work across the stack and wear multiple hats
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity in startups/high-growth environments
  • Experience as an IC in startups or dynamic settings
