About the role

Senior Product Engineer at Plain, a hybrid role in London. Responsible for end-to-end product development, backend architecture, and developer experience, with a focus on customer-facing channels and scalable infrastructure in a B2B SaaS environment.

Responsibilities

  • Help set product direction. You’ll contribute to both the technical architecture and the roadmap, balancing customer feedback with long-term product health.
  • Ship features end to end. You’ll scope, build, and launch product features that directly solve customer problems. We’re structured into Core Product and Developer Infra teams.
  • Shape our backend architecture. You’ll tackle complex challenges from data modeling to high-performance reporting and set standards across the company.
  • Create a stellar developer experience. From data pipelines to APIs, ensure Plain is great to use and build on.

Qualifications

  • Thrive in early ideation stages and balance trade-offs to ship high impact products.
  • Impact driven with focus on end-user experience rather than code abstractions.
  • Proven track record in product-led, ideally B2B SaaS environments.
  • Autonomous with ability to prioritise workload and invest in long-term infrastructure.
  • Experience with distributed, serverless systems and high-quality, high-performance web applications.
  • Comfortable with architectural discussions and customer conversations.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently.
