Android Engineer
About the role
Android Engineer position focused on evolving Monzo's native Android app. You’ll work in a small, autonomous product squad, building polished user experiences for a product used by millions, with a product-minded, data-informed approach.
Responsibilities
- Work in a small, autonomous product squad alongside iOS Engineers, Backend Engineers, User Researchers, Product Designers, Product Managers, QA Testers, and Data Scientists.
- Be responsible for an overall company goal, influencing what and how we build.
- Develop on the Android app using Kotlin, MVVM, and modular architecture.
- Collaborate in weekly Android discipline to improve codebase and processes.
- Utilize RxJava, Retrofit, Moshi, Dagger, Coroutines, Room, Compose, and other tools as part of app development.
- Contribute to testing strategy with unit tests for ViewModels/Coordinators and Compose screens; snapshot testing with Happo; Espresso testing for flows; CI pipelines.
- Contribute to design system and mobile platform initiatives to enable faster engineering across teams.
Qualifications
- Experience in Kotlin programming.
- Shipped and iterated on at least one app in the Play Store.
- Product mindset with focus on customer outcomes and data-informed decisions.
- Comfortable working in a team dealing with ambiguity.
- Understanding computer science principles.
