About the role

Backend engineer role at Monzo focusing on product-backed services, distributed systems, and customer outcomes with flexible working arrangements across the UK (London, Cardiff, or remote).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate across disciplines to test hypotheses and make a difference to customers.
  • Build and support a particular part of Monzo within a squad.
  • Work with product managers, marketers, researchers, designers, and engineers to deliver backend solutions.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience working on the backend of a technology product.
  • Product mindset with emphasis on customer outcomes and data-informed decisions.
  • Comfortable working in a team that deals with ambiguity.
  • Interest in distributed systems and writing resilient software.
  • Experience with strongly-typed languages (Go, Java, C, Scala, etc.).
