About the role

Lead the team responsible for Runway's product platform and API, focusing on growth, architecture, and cross-team collaboration in a high-performance, innovative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Drive platform strategy and architecture for TypeScript-based API infrastructure, ensuring code quality, maintainability, and scalability.
  • Own the public API domain end-to-end, from technical architecture to revenue growth, ensuring high quality and developer satisfaction.
  • Manage data and analytics infrastructure, maintaining data integrity, security, and accessibility.
  • Lead and grow a team of 4-6 platform engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
  • Partner with Product Engineering teams to unblock feature launches and integrate backend services with frontend experiences.
  • Own critical data pipelines and metrics that inform business decisions in Finance, Support, and Product.
  • Work cross-functionally with leadership to set priorities, communicate progress, and align platform investments with business goals.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in an engineering manager or team lead role, with a track record of building and scaling teams.
  • 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience, specifically with TypeScript services in cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure).
  • Strong product sensibility and business awareness, understanding how technical decisions impact revenue and customer satisfaction.
  • Experience owning revenue-generating platforms or products, with knowledge of API economics and developer experience.
  • Solid foundation in data engineering, analytics, and business intelligence tools.
  • Experience managing production databases at scale, data migrations, and ensuring data integrity.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills.
  • Comfort with rapid iteration and ambiguity in a startup setting.
  • Empathetic and inclusive leadership style.
