About the role

Hiring a New Grad Software Engineer for the 2026 class in San Francisco to build, scale, and shape platforms or products related to life sciences R&D at Benchling.

Responsibilities

  • Work with and learn from a strong team of engineers. Grow through mentorship and ownership.
  • Own projects end-to-end, from initial design, to prototype, to large-scale rollout.
  • Design and implement backend models and API endpoints for complex scientific workflows.
  • Design and implement rich frontend components and architecture.
  • Design and build platform framework or infrastructure tools for internal use.
  • Work closely with product managers, designers, marketing, and sales.
  • Help rapidly scale the product and team, improve tooling, practices, and hiring.

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a BS/MS degree in computer science and/or STEM field with an expected graduation date of Summer 2026.
  • A prior software engineering internship or similar experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to iterate on feedback.
  • Desire to own key pieces of product or platform development.
  • Product-first approach to software development, shipping code quickly with real-world impact.
