About the role

Senior Manager leading a data science team to shape infrastructure through data-driven approaches, focusing on capacity planning, performance optimization, reliability, and customer experience in Databricks’ infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Thought leadership and strategic guidance on infrastructure planning to ensure scalability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Promote a data-driven approach to infrastructure decisions and influence stakeholders across engineering and support.
  • Implement data-driven solutions to identify, predict, and mitigate infrastructure risks and failures, reducing downtime and improving reliability and performance.
  • Lead analyses to improve resource utilization and eliminate inefficiencies for cost savings and performance optimization.
  • Establish data frameworks that empower support teams to troubleshoot and resolve product issues faster, improving response times and customer experience.
  • Mentor and manage a team of data scientists, instilling best practices in data science and fostering a collaborative, scalable infrastructure-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of infrastructure data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics experience in high-velocity, high-growth environments.
  • 5+ years of management experience hiring and developing teams.
  • Experience developing data science, analytics, ML, and AI products in a cloud environment.
  • Knowledge of statistics and rigorous analytical techniques.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, data engineering, data modeling, and big data technologies.
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to evangelize analytics to executives and senior management.
  • Bias to action and strong problem-solving ability in ambiguous contexts.
  • MS or Ph.D. in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
