About the role

Backend-focused software engineer at Databricks building infrastructure for the Databricks platform at scale, with emphasis on cross-regional/cloud provider operations, cloud-agnostic abstractions, and developer tooling to improve engineering efficiency (notably Rust development experience).

Responsibilities

  • Work with your team to build infrastructure for the Databricks platform at scale.
  • Support Databricks' growth by building foundational infrastructure platforms across geographic regions and cloud providers.
  • Implement cloud-agnostic infrastructure abstractions to help engineers manage and operate services.
  • Develop tools and processes that drive engineering efficiency (languages, linters, static analysis, IDEs, remote development environments, release pipelines, test automation).
  • Focus on optimizing the Rust development experience across the organization.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional software development experience, or a PhD
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Java, Scala, or Go
  • Hands-on experience in developing and operating backend systems
  • Ability to contribute across all project phases with guidance from senior team members
  • Self-driven and collaborative with a focus on delivering impact
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to produce clear technical documentation that drives alignment and decision-making
