About the role

Solution consultants act as primary solution leads for customers, deploying infrastructure in complex IT environments, interfacing with various lab and legacy applications, and partnering closely with sales and product teams to develop and demonstrate optimal biotech solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with account executives and leadership to develop account and deal strategies for customer engagement.
  • Uncover customer needs through organized discovery processes that relate to decision criteria and key business challenges.
  • Design solutions based on Benchling capabilities, industry standards, and R&D functions, aligning data models and processes with customer science and technology landscape.
  • Present and demonstrate solutions persuasively, manage customer questions and objections, and ensure competitive presentation including alternatives like in-house development.
  • Collaborate with product management to provide insights on customer needs and industry trends, influencing product development and roadmap.
  • Create reusable solutions, content, and training materials; mentor peers; and contribute to team success.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or related Life Science field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience, preferably with customer-facing roles.
  • Experience with scientific/informatics software such as LIMS, ELN, or similar, especially in pre-sales demonstrations.
  • Ability to model scientific data and craft solutions based on industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of research technology used in biopharma companies.
  • Agile and adaptable mentality, quick to implement new engagement processes.
  • Ability to establish trust with scientists and successfully pitch to scientific buyers.
