About the role

Leadership role to build Databricks’ data infrastructure organization in Bengaluru, establishing foundational teams for billing reliability, disaster recovery, multi-region data ingestion, developer platforms, and deployment automation at petabyte scale.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the infrastructure vision for systems processing billions in daily billing transactions with zero tolerance for error, including disaster recovery, testing frameworks, correctness systems, and observability.
  • Build Bengaluru's data infrastructure organization by establishing it as the destination for India's top infrastructure talent, hiring multiple engineering managers, and creating a culture focused on solving hard distributed systems problems at scale
  • Own 24/7/365 business-critical systems across 100+ regions with high uptime goals, enabling self-healing, self-tuning, and self-documenting frameworks
  • Ship platforms that compound engineering leverage across Databricks: correctness frameworks, deployment automation, data integration at petabyte scale, and automatic comprehensive testing infrastructure
  • Position infrastructure as a product with SLAs, measuring adoption and satisfaction, and demonstrating ROI through product velocity, reliability, and cost reductions

Qualifications

  • 14+ years in distributed systems engineering with 6+ years leading infrastructure organizations and 4+ years managing managers at scale-dependent companies
