About the role

Lead Java Engineer role focusing on complex, transformative projects for top-tier Financial Services clients in an Agile environment, with strong server-side JVM expertise and multi-stack capability.

Responsibilities

  • Build distributed systems that deal with actor-based concurrency, reactive programming, distributed in-memory data grids, messaging beyond plain JMS
  • Work on server side JVM-based projects
  • Utilize the typical Java/Scala JVM ecosystem stack (Spring, Guice, Guava, Maven, Hibernate, Jetty, etc.)
  • Retool continuously as the technology landscape changes
  • Pick up other technologies across the development stack, including front-end and non-JVM ecosystems
  • Collaborate with clients in iterative, project-based engagements with self-organizing teams
  • Share knowledge and learn from colleagues, delivering quality code
  • Demonstrate experience writing commercial-grade software applications
  • Understand multithreading and real-time software architectures
  • Solve real-world business problems with technology as an enabler
  • Maintain determination and a positive attitude toward achieving goals

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience designing and building complex, commercial-grade core server-side Java applications (Java 8+ preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience leading Agile teams
  • Willingness to take responsibility for the team’s actions and outcomes
  • Ability to proactively make informed decisions based on project and technology understanding
  • Experience sharing knowledge, guiding team members, and leading learning sessions
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements, technology, and team composition
  • Experience building RESTful Web Services
  • Test-driven development including Unit and End-to-End Testing
  • Experience with Agile software development (SCRUM or KANBAN)
  • Experience in a CI/CD environment
  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, or related work experience
  • Experience with, knowledge of, and strong interest in global financial markets and financial products
