About the role

Lead UI Engineer role focused on designing and building complex UI solutions for finance clients, leading a team of UI engineers, and delivering production-ready software in client-facing projects within Lab49/ION.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with client to lead design and build of a marketplace experience, managing a team of UI engineers and relationships with key contributors to deliver software.
  • Manage the technical solution design for a green field application to launch a startup financial services business, design and plan for implementation and production delivery.
  • Contribute to the Interactive Practice UI engineering community, fostering high-quality software development culture.
  • Act as hands-on engineer and architect to support work across the Interactive front-end Practice, leading projects and modeling best practices.
  • Build strong relationships with clients as a strategic partner and technical advisor, contributing to expanding footprint and securing follow-on work.
  • Collaborate with Lab49 business development to create pitches, define problems, present solutions, and engage in industry events and public speaking.
  • Assist in developing management skills among line managers in the Engineering practice.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience designing and building complex, commercial-grade software applications, with 5+ years leading Agile teams.
  • Proven leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience designing holistic technical solutions, integrating with third-party services and APIs, and deploying apps to production.
  • Experience managing project teams and interacting with clients in finance, consulting, or startup environments.
  • Passion for technology and staying current with industry trends via events and meet-ups.
  • Experience with JavaScript and TypeScript, with modern frameworks (React preferred; Angular/Vue acceptable).
  • Experience with one or more cloud platforms and understanding of SDLC practices like continuous delivery.
  • Strong understanding of testing, quality, CI, source control, and code reviews.
  • Experience in capital markets, financial markets/products, or consulting is desirable.
