About the role

Senior leadership roles focusing on system architecture, distributed systems, and data infrastructure for AI/ML applications at Unstructured.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve the end-to-end architecture for Unstructured’s data transformation and retrieval platform.
  • Build and scale distributed systems processing massive unstructured data.
  • Serve as authority on Kubernetes orchestration, cluster design, performance tuning, and reliability.
  • Lead Python architecture, ensuring performance, modularity, and maintainability.
  • Design and optimize Postgres schemas, queries, and indexing for large-scale metadata and retrieval pipelines.
  • Mentor senior engineers through design reviews and code guidance.
  • Partner with infrastructure and product teams to deploy prototypes into production.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and open-source tools for AI/ML infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience in distributed systems, infrastructure, or data architecture.
  • Expert in Python, capable of building frameworks and performance-critical services.
  • Deep Kubernetes expertise; ability to design, deploy, and debug at scale.
  • Fluent in Postgres, understanding query planning, partitioning, and tuning.
  • Experience with high-performance data or AI/ML systems, especially retrieval pipelines, embeddings, or hybrid workloads.
