About the role

Legal counsel supporting commercial transactions, employment law, and compliance for Benchling's EMEA operations, primarily in London or Zurich.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the full lifecycle of commercial contracts for EMEA operations, including SaaS and other operational agreements.
  • Collaborate on developing and implementing contracting policies and training programs for sales teams.
  • Assess and mitigate legal risks in commercial transactions, providing guidance to senior stakeholders.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders on European employment law matters, including hiring, benefits, and dispute management.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of European privacy and data protection laws to advise on compliance and regional expansion.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of relevant legal experience, with at least 5 years supporting enterprise SaaS transactions in-house.
  • Qualified attorney or solicitor (or EU equivalent) in an English-speaking jurisdiction.
  • Proven ability to provide pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice and translate complex concepts for non-legal colleagues.
  • Experience navigating employment law across multiple European jurisdictions.
