About the role

A high-ownership, hands-on role to build and oversee core People Operations and employee lifecycle initiatives at HappyRobot, a fast-growing AI-native startup.

Responsibilities

  • Own and run core People Operations activities, including payroll processing, HRIS management, etc.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees, handling complex employee situations with professionalism, empathy, and discretion.
  • Build, document, and continuously improve People processes to ensure consistency, compliance, and a great employee experience as the company scales.
  • Partner closely with team leadership to design and execute people programs, including performance processes, manager enablement, and employee experience initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies, partnering with leadership as needed.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and leaders across the company on people-related initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in an HR, People Ops, or talent-related role, ideally within a fast-paced company or high-volume environment.
  • Demonstrated discretion and sound judgment when handling sensitive and confidential employee information.
  • At least 2 core HR strengths: HRIS management (highly preferred), People Experience / Employee Relations, Learning & Development, People Analytics.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • High level of ownership, initiative, and proactive improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to build trust at all organizational levels.
