About the role

Leads the Lab Execution Systems engineering group, responsible for software development, management, and operations of lab-related products in a biotech SaaS environment, supporting complex bioresearch workflows and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a group of 2–3 engineering scrum teams; up to one team reports directly to the lead.
  • Translate strategy into quarterly plans with metrics and targets.
  • Define and execute a software engineering roadmap encompassing new product development, quality improvements, and maintenance.
  • Recruit, hire, and mentor full-stack engineers and engineering managers.
  • Build partnerships across engineering and other functions.
  • Contribute to organizational improvements in engineering practices and SDLC.

Qualifications

  • 10–15 years overall experience in software engineering and management.
  • 5+ years in SaaS or high-tech software industry.
  • 5+ years of engineering management experience, including managing subordinate managers.
  • Proven ability to deliver complex multi-quarter roadmaps.
  • Experience deploying cloud-based web applications on front- and back-end.
  • Track record of growing early-career engineers into leaders.
