About the role

Leads the Lab Execution Systems (LES) engineering group responsible for software development and operational maintenance of products supporting complex lab operations, SOPs, data analysis, workflows, and regulatory concerns in biotech.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a group of 2–3 engineering scrum teams; up to one team may report directly to you.
  • Translate strategy into execution through quarterly plans with metrics and targets.
  • Define and execute a software engineering roadmap encompassing product development, quality improvements, bugfixes, and maintenance.
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard full-stack engineers and engineering managers; mentor team members.
  • Build strong partnerships within the engineering organization and across the company.
  • Contribute to organizational improvements across engineering.

Qualifications

  • 10–15 years overall experience in software engineering and management.
  • 5+ years experience in SaaS or high-tech software sector.
  • 5+ years of engineering management experience, including 3+ years managing through subordinate managers.
  • Experience leading complex multi-quarter roadmaps and multiple technical projects.
  • Experience building and deploying cloud-based web applications on both front- and back-end.
  • Track record of developing engineers into company-wide leaders.
  • Familiarity with engineering management tools like Jira, observability tools.
