About the role

Ramp's Dev API team builds programmatic surfaces for read/write access to Ramp, focusing on an AI-first platform to enable developers and AI agents to ship new capabilities across surfaces. The role emphasizes developer experience, end-to-end ownership, and shaping how software interacts with financial infrastructure at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate Ramp's multi-surface platform with a high bar for reliability, correctness, and developer experience across tens of thousands of businesses.
  • Serve thousands of builders and partners using our API, driving a large fraction of Ramp’s revenue, and deliver on a massive business opportunity to embed Ramp everywhere.
  • Build software factories -- autonomous tooling and agents that accelerate endpoint creation, enabling teams across Ramp to ship their own API surfaces.
  • Lead design and execution of complex backend projects end-to-end (architecture, implementation, rollout, monitoring) in Python, Temporal, and Postgres.
  • Own user experience and platform robustness end-to-end -- harden and evolve the API with an emphasis on quality, reliability, and sustainability.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience
  • Experience building APIs or developer-facing platforms
  • Strong instinct for developer experience -- you've felt the pain of bad docs, bad error messages, and bad onboarding
  • Strong ownership over delivering technical and business outcomes in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated hands-on, daily use of AI coding agents as the primary development driver.
  • Comfort with agentic workflows, orchestration layers, and AI tooling broadly
