About the role

Lead and own multiple critical platform initiatives to redesign and scale core Databricks experiences (Workspaces, Notebooks, SQL queries) and associated serving infrastructure. Drive platformization, scalability and developer experience while mentoring teams and shaping engineering culture.

Responsibilities

  • Complete ownership of multiple platforms: responsible for defining and owning execution on dimensions such as scalability, platformization, reliability.
  • Platformize serving infrastructure: design abstractions to support current and emerging use cases (e.g., AI), drive consensus across stakeholders, create scalable product experiences.
  • Re-architecting Platforms for scale: redesign systems to handle 10X to 100X growth.
  • Build amazing developer experience: revolutionize platform onboarding to reduce time from weeks to hours.
  • Developing Impactful Features: create features that enhance product functionality and end-user experience.
  • Fostering Engineering Excellence: cultivate engineering culture focused on quality and productivity.
  • Mentoring Future Leaders: guide junior team members and model strong leadership.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of production level experience in Python, Java, Scala, C++, or similar language
  • BS (or higher) in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience developing large-scale distributed systems from scratch
  • Experience working on a SaaS platform or with Service-Oriented Architectures
