About the role

Outreach Specialist focusing on the German-speaking markets to support link-building and SEO growth across Proton products, working with journalists, publishers, and internal teams to secure authoritative backlinks and improve rankings.

Responsibilities

  • Outreach Campaign Development: Create and implement effective outreach campaigns to acquire high-quality backlinks from relevant and authoritative websites.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain strong relationships with journalists, major publications, influencers, and administrators of niche websites across various industries.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (PR, Social Media, Content, Affiliates) to optimise campaigns and content for link-building.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on outreach campaign effectiveness (link acquisition, traffic, rankings).
  • Link Prospecting: Identify and assess potential linking opportunities through research and competitive analysis.
  • Pitching: Supervise the creation of persuasive email pitches and negotiate link acquisitions.
  • Competitor Analysis: Regularly analyse competitors to identify new link-building opportunities.
  • SEO Compliance: Ensure outreach activities adhere to latest SEO best practices and guidelines.
  • Tool Proficiency: Use media contact databases and standard SEO/outreach tools.

Qualifications

  • Fluent (or near) verbal and written English and German
  • Background or education in PR, marketing, or similar
  • Experience with news media and journalists; established relationships are a plus
  • Demonstrated success in improving search engine rankings across markets
  • Experience securing backlinks from major publications in different markets
  • Ability to ideate outreach campaigns delivering long-term value
  • Comfortable engaging with internal stakeholders to highlight value to business objectives
  • Familiarity with outreach-specific PR tools and general SEO tools
  • Understanding of overall SEO and how outreach integrates with marketing efforts
  • Willingness to work in an office-first environment with some flexibility for remote work
