About the role

Site Reliability Engineer responsible for the operational excellence, reliability, and scaling of Proton Meet, including research, development, load testing, rollout of services and infrastructure, with a focus on logging, monitoring, alerting, and on-call practices.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the operational excellence of Proton Meet, which must run reliably 24/7 and scale with increasing traffic and complexity.
  • Work on research, development, load testing, and rollout of new services and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to ensure systems have proper logging, monitoring, alerting, and on-call processes.
  • Debug and troubleshoot production issues.

Qualifications

  • Deep experience with Linux systems and Internet technologies (DNS, TLS, HTTP, WebSockets)
  • Deep experience with infrastructure automation (Puppet, Terraform, Kubernetes)
  • Experience managing load balancing (HAProxy), data storage (PostgreSQL) and messaging systems (NATS)
  • Experience with AI agents for coding, incident response, and stress testing
  • Able to operate in a fast environment with teammates in other continents and take on-call shifts
  • Excellent English communications, both written and spoken
  • Bonus: experience with WebRTC and real-time streaming
