About the role

Localization team ensures Proton works and sells in every market, owning how product launches and growth content reach people in their own language and culture across in-app strings, pricing pages, CRM emails, app store listings, and marketing materials.

Responsibilities

  • Own the lifecycle for your portfolio. From string freeze to general availability — initiation, planning, execution, closure. Coordinate Product, Design, Engineering, Marketing and Support against fixed release dates, and determine if a locale is ready to ship.
  • Run the machine. Administer our TMS and CAT workflows, maintain assets for repeatable launches (scoping models, timelines, locale-readiness checklists, go/no-go criteria).
  • Keep your spend on track. Own budget for your corner, track translation costs per product and per language, reconcile monthly, flag drift.
  • Build and manage the vendor bench. Recruit, pre-qualify and test suppliers/freelancers; maintain SLAs/NDAs/docs; track quality and turnaround; conduct quarterly business reviews; escalate as needed.
  • Ensure adaptation, not transliteration. Localize growth-facing content for markets; brief/review adaptations, flag cultural/regulatory risks; own template internationalization and content logic for lifecycle emails if applicable.
  • Be the reference point. Act as linguistic and internationalization contact for stakeholders; drive retrospectives and corrective-action reports; occasional proof of concept.
  • Ship experiments, then measure them. Collaborate with CRO team on localized variants; frame localization hypotheses; interpret results within growth experiments; segment funnel data by locale to identify language/culture impacts on conversions.

Qualifications

  • Owned localization projects or programs end-to-end, including multi-workstream, multi-market launches with fixed dates.
  • Proficient in English daily (B2–C2) and native or professional proficiency in at least one other language.
  • Hands-on administration of TMS and CAT tools; strong knowledge of localization best practices and internationalization standards.
  • Experience managing vendors/freelancers against quality, turnaround and cost targets; vigilant on spend trends.
  • Comfortable with operational data: defining metrics, monitoring them, and influencing behavior based on data.
