About the role

Senior Software Engineer role at Automat, a YC-funded startup focused on agentic automation and AI-powered enterprise workflows. Product-minded engineer expected to own substantial parts of the product, shape technical solutions, and contribute to engineering culture in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work within the Core Engineering team to develop and expand our product suite, from Automat Studio to the Agentic Workflow Builder and beyond.
  • Build interfaces which leverage cutting-edge computer use models to automate and accelerate real world Enterprise workflows across finance, banking, healthcare, e-commerce, and more.
  • Collaborate with Forward Deployed Team to understand customer interactions and bolster the Agentic Workflow Builder and Developer Toolkit.
  • Develop beautiful and intuitive UX interfaces which abstract away complex business automation processes and create a seamless experience for non-technical users and engineers alike
  • Create robust, enterprise grade back-end infrastructure and services to power Fortune 500 workflows at scale
  • Influence engineering practices, shape product direction, and contribute to building a world class company culture.

Qualifications

  • Experience building with modern web frameworks like Next.js and leveraging services like Supabase and Vercel
  • Top notch communication and collaboration skills
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and wearing multiple hats
  • Extensive experience leveraging AI coding tools (e.g. Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code, etc.)
  • Passion for creating intuitive, user-friendly experiences
  • Proactive mindset with bias toward action
  • Intrinsic desire to leave things better than you found them
  • Experience as an IC in startups or high-growth settings
  • 3+ years of experience
